Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all of the data and other information comply with regulations and other company guidelines. Maintains good working relationships with application and project teams to ensure high system/application availability and scalability from database aspects.

  • Identifies, defines, and assesses the properties and specifications necessary for the database management system (DBMS) to meet the current and future needs of the organization.

  • Defines a logical database structure for application development based on the organizational structure of the company.

  • Defines and executes procedures for testing and implementing new applications in the database environment.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to data integrity.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors access policies, limiting database access on a need-related basis.

  • Ensures project and organization milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.

  • Assesses current and projected database performance and recommend changes and enhancements.

  • Collaborates with other teams to resolve data conflicts, such as naming conventions, data privacy, and data ownership.

  • Maintains and adopts knowledge of industry trends, developments, and best practices in DBMS and related technology.

  • Becomes familiar with cloud infrastructure and database management (LaaS, DaaS), such as AWS and Microsoft Azure data environment and storage

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Builds an effective team through recruiting, hiring, and training staff. Provides leadership and guidance by being a mentor to team members.

  • Guides the team to enhance the effectiveness of database tools and services, seeking opportunities to improve database scalability and performance.

  • Provides constructive and timely performance feedback to the team.

  • Practices project management knowledge and skills, including agile methodology, with a proven record of successfully managing DBA team performance

  • Demonstrated business acumen skills, including the ability to perform NPV analysis, ROI, and other financial justifications
