Description
Position Summary: Responsible for the overall direction and control of the P&C underwriting activities and implements and ensures underwriting policies and procedures for the mutual company are met. Ensures the mutual leadership team is strategically aligned with the company’s goals and business plan. Designs and implements procedures and methods used for expediting underwriting changes including the calculations to determine associated costs. Responsible that the workflow from new application to the underwriting process is seamless and efficient for an optimum customer experience. Manages the departmental budget, including but not limited to, overseeing reporting and analysis, coordinating the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing critical budget analysis to assist with decision-making, and address budget and operational issues. Establishes and implements strategies that have short to mid-term (1-3 years) impact on business results in alignment with the organization’s objectives. Develops short to mid-term (1-3 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, and the resources required to execute strategies in job areas.
Minimum Knowledge and Job Requirements:
Position requires:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
Minimum 2 years prior experience in a P&C management role.
Farm specific experience a plus.
Ability to demonstrate leadership on corporate projects, ensuring proper focus and direction is given to each one based on priorities. Helps assign priority levels and helps redirect resources toward the highest priorities.
Ability to analyze market research to evaluate trends, brand awareness, and competition.
Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings both internally and externally. Requires the ability to command attention, manage group processes; and change tactics midstream when a situation requires it.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, ability to develop others and build effective teams.
Certifications and Licenses: Related insurance designations/coursework beneficial
