Job Description

Learns to provide fair, prompt and courteous claims service; adhere to established Company guidelines and procedures.; monitor all assigned claims and keeps them updated and properly reserved; discuss potential serious losses with UCC and/or Claims Manager; and stay current and adhere to all laws pertaining to claims settlements.

Learns to complete all tasks on assigned claims in accordance with good faith claims handling and the P&C Claims Best Practices; prepare appraisals, appropriate to skill level, on selected claims; secure and maintain proper file requirements and document all transactions completed.

Learns to establish and promote good working relationships with all Company divisions.

Learns to establish positive public relations with insureds, claimants and the general public through professional conduct and appearance.

Learns to properly maintain all Company issued equipment and updated assigned manuals.

Maintains a positive educational program to stay professionally current with the insurance and repair industries.

Learns to assist in taking losses when needed, and provide assistance to other claims personnel when needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by Management, including but, not limited to: working catastrophe /storm duty, participating in round table discussions, and assisting with customer concerns. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent. College degree preferred, but not required.

Requires previous Commercial Claims experience that would have included exposure to working with people, resolving conflicts, and completing assignments under limited direction in a timely manner.

Requires skills in attentive and active listening; patience to hear people out and the ability to accurately restate the opinions of others. Demonstrated multifaceted oral and written communication skills specific to creating and fostering a learning environment that focuses on customer service and its continuous improvement. Requires, good grammar, composition, spelling, punctuation and proofreading skills. Requires excellent telephone communication skills.

 Requires knowledge of Companies' organizational structure, general philosophy, personnel policies, and operating methods and procedures and consistently project the professional and proper Company image and philosophy in dealing with people and maintain appropriate confidentiality/discretion.

 Must have emotional maturity and demonstrate patience / understanding due to intense customer contact; the need to remain calm and react quickly under pressure is essential. 

Must have the ability to set own priorities; exercise initiative and judgment in making independent decisions within the scope of assigned authority; and substantiate these decisions. 

Must demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities. 

Requires the ability to work the number of hours needed to complete job requirements. 

Must acquire the ability to effectively utilize computer systems required for essential job functions. 

Requires the visual capability to effectively operate the computer system. Familiarity with computer keyboard functions is required.

INS, AIC, and CPCU designations strongly recommended, but not required.
