We are looking for an Associate Life Underwriter to evaluate and appraise applications for individual life insurance coverage. The position will build knowledge of the analysis process, including review of medical history, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest or other information pertinent to the underwriting decision. As a member of the underwriting team, you will work with a variety of internal and external partners to ensure prompt and efficient service to our customers and participate in ongoing learning and technical development

We are looking for someone that can:
* Participate in underwriting training program (majority is self-study), designed to teach you the life underwriting business, how to assess risk, medical concepts and terminology, customer service, and business systems and processes.
* Complete assignments designed to develop analytical skills to assess risk.
* Navigate underwriting manuals and learns to assess mortality / morbidity risk properly.
* Interact with agents/producers to gather information, discuss cases or other underwriting information in a professional and effective manner.


 Requirements
Do you have?
* A Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
* Self-motivation with a desire and ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts, processes, and behaviors.
* Have excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and concisely, documenting files thoroughly and neatly.
* A strong attention to detail to follow business processes correctly, anticipating and understanding the impact of underwriter handling and ensuring high quality review the first time / every time.
* A desire to pursue LOMA and/or insurance related classes during training period which may be 1-2 years? Successful completion of the ALU Level One Certificate is required.
